It was Monday, March 8, 2021. Two months into the new year I decided to try removing myself from the shit show that is Facebook. Oh, I still pop in on occasion but I will no longer put up new posts and will limit my responses there to only the most innocuous of posts by other people. I now also have a place to post rebuttals to things I read and disagree with without fear of reprisal.

This is only a start and there are plenty of things in which I am interested. Religiously, I lean towards Evangelical Christianity so I have an interest in the direction the church is taking. I find it both curious and sad that the church to which I used to belong has decided to take the social justice warrior route. Politically, I lean heavily towards libertarianism and conservatism meaning I have absolutely no use for the political left with their fascistic tendencies, their need to cancel anything that doesn’t toe their party line and their habit of either banning things are mandating things. My politics makes things awkward for me in the work place since I have worked in public education for over 18 years now. It is my belief that my public responses on political topics over on Facebook have cost me employment opportunities. I am also something of a technology nerd, particularly Apple products which also puts me in an awkward position since I am diametrically opposed to them politically. That tension does push me to explore other avenues however such as building a hackintosh a couple of summers ago and exploring Installing Linux on one of my Macs.

I chose the name “Well, but…” because I found myself replying to things I read with that very phrase. For instance, the left is still campaigning against Donald Trump. My response? Well, but he’s been out of office now for 2 months and had no access to the most popular social media sites. Why are you still fighting that battle? I will explore letting other disenfranchised friends post here as time goes on as long as all posts have “Well, but…” somewhere within.
