It took me a while to come around but I became a Donald Trump supporter in 2020. I still believe that much of what he did as president was better than any of his living predecessors or potential 2016 competitors could have done. I wasn’t a believer that year but he won me over despite his narcissism. But now he has become toxic. He is a poison that will take down everything good he accomplished while in office because of his unbelievable pride. The presidency for him now is all about him and has nothing to do with the message that won me over. It’s about how he was wronged in 2020 and not about how conservatism can save the country. As I watch the last of his candidates (Kari Lake) crash and burn I’m left with a black pit in my stomach when I think about how the progressives will now pack courts and push through an agenda for which they have no mandate but believe is destiny. Free speech is a thing of the past. The 1st amendment will be incinerated along with the second amendment under the guise of social justice. Our once free country will become much less free thanks in large part to a former president who had an ego entirely too large for a majority of the country to stomach.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
